Definition of Authentic Activities
Authentic activities are activities described as “tasks identical or similar to those that children will eventually encounter in the outside world” (Ormrod, 2008, p.343). These different activities prepare students for activities that resembles a real life activity that they will encounter at some point in the future. When these different activities are incorporated into school curriculum, the student are sometimes able to form a mental connection between the information they have received in the classroom and the real life activity (Ormrod, 2008). These are interactive activities that help students prepare for something they may encounter when in the work force.
